I hope you all had a spooky Halloween and a gut-busting Thanksgiving (at least for you American chaps and chippies). I've been holding out on you for a bit because I needed all the balls I have in the air to finally come down to earth..and bounce off my head. I never was a good juggler.
Some of you may have heard that Samhain let legendary horror editor Don D'Auria go a month ago. This was a big blow. Don is the reason so many of us have careers and why we've published with Samhain these past 5 years. The news rocked me for a bit, and also gave me a good reason to take a a wee break. It was much needed. To learn more about it, you can read my blog post. This doesn't mean it's the day the horror music died. I promise, I and many of your favorite horror scribes are busy at work and will have plenty of new books for you to devour. You can't keep a good monster down!
Anyway, there's a lot of 'hot off the presses' news for 2016, signed book winners, movies to watch during the holiday break and one last appearance for 2015 and more. So grab your monster hunting kit and let's dive in!
Have a wonderful and healthy holiday and a happy new year! -- Hunter

This was supposed to be breaking news but the pre-order page on Amazon came up quicker than expected. Coming this January, THEY RISE is a couple of firsts - my first sea monster book and my first book with Severed Press. They've been fantastic to work with and specialize in sea monster yarns, among other things. Did you grow up loving tales about the Loch Ness Monster, killer whales and mysterious creatures from the deep, dark sea? I know I did. The deadly chimaera fish in this book make Jaws look like a guppy!
Some call them ghost sharks, the oldest and strangest looking creatures in the sea.
Marine biologist Brad Whitley has studied chimaera fish all his life. He thought he knew everything about them. He was wrong. Warming ocean temperatures free legions of prehistoric chimaera fish from their methane ice suspended animation. Now, in a corner of the Bermuda Triangle, the ocean waters run red. The 400 million year old massive killing machines know no mercy, destroying everything in their path. It will take Whitley, his climatologist ex-wife and the entire US Navy to stop them in the bloodiest battle ever seen on the high seas.
You can pre-order the ebook now. If you prefer the trade paperback (like I do), that will be available to order on January 4th. The ebook is free if you have Kindle Unlimited. Happy fishing!
