I'm running the London Marathon 2016, which is a huge personal challenge for me and, more importantly, also a great opportunity to raise money for a fantastic charity. 

Every year the Samaritans answers 5 million calls for help from people struggling to cope with life. Its lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and the people taking the calls are volunteers. 

Being a journalist, I read (and write!) every day about what happens when someone doesn't get this help. Time and time again, members of the public have told me how vital this charity is. 

So, what can your money do? 

• £10 can keep one of their branches open for two hours
  
• £15 can give ongoing email support to one person
  
• £20 answers 5 calls, emails or texts

Over the next ten months I'll be organising raffles, bake sales, nights out and lots of other little events to raise money, but whatever you can donate will be hugely appreciated.

Plus, any donations made on this page will go even further as the more I raise the more the company I work for will donate!
