Class Specifications

The primary function of an employee in this class is to assist and train system end users in all City departments as well as field basic questions as they arise.   The position also provides support relating to the operation and maintenance of various software programs and help desk support.  The position reports to the Information Systems (IS) Administrator, although considerable latitude is allowed for independent judgment and initiative.  The principal duties of the position are performed in a general office environment. 

Examples of Work Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs the Help Desk role for application support
  • Provides reports and data for internal/external customers
  • Educates end-users on a variety of topics in an organized training format
  • Provide group training
  • Coordinates implementation processes
  • Setup and configure installed M-Files, Tyler, InCode software
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise, escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel
  • Develop documentation of training subjects and online lessons
  • Create, test, and implement workflows in M-Files

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Bachelor's degree in information systems or related field
    • Two (2) years of responsible related experience in a similar capacity or;
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

    • Work independently and make sound judgments;
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; prepare written procedures and training materials;
    • Analyze informational requirements and needs; develop logical solutions to problems;
    • Provide technical advice, staff training, and consultation to ensure efficient software systems utilization;
    • Stay current with new technological developments;
    • Operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties;
    • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at a level commensurate to the audience;
    • Communicate effectively and establish working relationships with supervisors and co-workers, Elected Officials and the public;
    • Perform job duties in a way that promotes a positive image of the city organization, demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, and delivers exemplary customer service.
    • Selected candidate will be required to pass background check and be fingerprinted.

    2019 Overview of Benefits Information
    The City of Post Falls offers a variety of benefits to regularly scheduled employees working in excess of twenty (20) hours per week and as determined by our employee definitions, conferring benefits.  Below is an overview of benefits.  For more detail, please contact the Human Resource Offices.

    Health & Dental Insurance:
    The City of Post Falls offers Medical and Dental Insurance to eligible employees. Insurance begins the first day of the month following a minimum of thirty-one days of employment.  A Vision Service Plan through AFLAC is offered to employees but there is no employer contribution made toward this plan.  Insurance plan years runs from January 1st to December 31st.  Because premiums are paid a month in advance, any new deduction amounts will occur with the first pay period in December unless you are a new employee and deductions will usually begin with the first pay period of the month prior to insurance eligibility.

    The City has adopted a Preferred Provider (PPO) Network which means employees enjoy a greater benefit if they use a medical or dental provider that is considered "in-network".  The City has no pre-existing condition waiting period. The City also contributes to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) on behalf of all eligible employees.  Amounts vary according to insurance elections.
