GOP Busted On Benghazi: Voted To Cut 100’s Of Millions In Embassy Security Before Attack

Even several years after the attack on the American embassy in Benghazi, Republicans are still trying to point their fingers and place blame on others, when in fact they should have been pointing squarely at themselves the whole time. The American people have begun to realize that they’re carrying on a politically-motivated smear campaign.

Ever since the tragic events in Benghazi in 2012 which left four Americans dead, including ambassador Chris Stevens, the GOP has been relentless in its attacks on the Obama administration. Ire has especially been pointed at President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the GOP asserting that they did not do as much as they could to prevent it from happening and even that there was a conspiracy from above to purposefully deny military aid. They’ve even gone so far as to claim that President Obama lied about the events in Benghazi in order to be reelected. Since then, they’ve used the Benghazi attacks incessantly in order to attempt to assassinate Hillary Clinton’s character and damage her polling numbers throughout the race for the oval office.

Unfortunately for them, their slanderous efforts seem to be backfiring, as they have failed to sway popular opinion against Hillary Clinton. In fact, there has been an increase in Hillary’s polling numbers for the 2016 election as a result of their antics. Moreover, their blaming Democratic politicians for the attacks is entirely hypocritical in light of the fact that the GOP-controlled House of Representatives voted to lower funding for embassy security by hundreds of millions of dollars since 2011, a full year before the Benghazi attacks.

Not only have the Republicans attempted to justify these cuts to security, they have attacked the Democrats for “daring to politicize a tragedy”, all while doing exactly what they condemn their opponents for. Since the discovery of Hillary’s private email server, millions of dollars have been spent fruitlessly investigating and desperately trying to find a link to the Benghazi attacks, money that the GOP insists is a necessary expenditure while simultaneously claiming that funding to defend embassies from terrorist attacks is not.
