A 72-year-old San Anselmo man was robbed outside his residence Wednesday after a visit to his bank, police said.

Central Marin police said the robbers might have seen the man at the bank with some cash in his hand and followed him home.

The robbery was reported at about 4:45 p.m. on Waverly Road near the San Francisco Theological Seminary. The victim told police he was returning home from the nearby Bank of America when two robbers got out of a car and one pointed a “long gun” at him, possibly a shotgun.

The robbers took a Rolex and some jewelry and fled in the car, described as a silver Honda Civic with a green paper temporary license plate.

The victim was not injured and provided police with a description of the robbers. According to Central Marin police spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher, the gunman, who was also the driver, was described as about 6-foot-2, black and slender with short black hair, a green sweatshirt and dark pants. The other man was described as black and about 5-foot-9, possibly wearing a hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about the robbers can call the Central Marin Police Authority at 415-927-5150.
