Winners announced in banner contest

For the third year, we've partnered with the City of Farmington to bring a public art contest to their downtown area. Local K-12 students were invited to submit artwork depicting the theme "Up, Up and Away!"

Over 500 entries were received and the committee, made up of representatives from Mineral Area Council on the Arts as well as the Farmington Library, chose 50 pieces which will now be produced on vinyl banners and hung on the city's light poles. Although we've been experiencing weather that feels like spring and flowers may be soon making an appearance, it will still be several weeks before "Art Blooms" in downtown. It's definitely something to look forward to!

For now, we congratulate the winners!

Mineral Area College Little Theatre Guild presents
THE TEMPEST

Friday, February 17 and Saturday, February 18,  7 pm
Mineral Area College Fine Arts Theater, Park Hills

“The Tempest,” believed to have been written in 1610–11, is thought by many critics to be the last play that Shakespeare wrote alone. It is set on a remote island, where the sorcerer Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and skillful manipulation. He conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. There, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonio's lowly nature, the redemption of the King, and the marriage of Miranda to Alonso's son, Ferdinand.

Tickets available at the door. $7 general admission, or $3 for MAC students and senior citizens.
