DANES IN FRANCE: Danish Champions want to sharpen their game in Paris

Realistically, Bjerringbro-Silkeborg knows that it will be more than difficult to win in Paris but they want to do a good game – Also in order to prepare for next week’s thriller in Plock.

The dream of reaching the Last 16 in the VELUX EHF Champions League is still achievable for the Danish Champions of Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. Ahead of the last five games of the group phase, Bjerringbro-Silkeborg  are two point behind their rivals from Wisla Plock, who currently has Group A’s sixth and last spot in the Last 16.

– We look forward to the last part of the group phase of this VELUX EHF Champions League campaign. We still have the chance of reaching the Last 16 and that motivates us. In order to proceed, we know that we need more points and with four away matches in the comming four weekends, it is going to be tough to make our dream come true but we look forward to fight for our chance, said Bjerringbro-Silkeborg coach Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen.

Next week, Bjerringbro-Silkeborg is visiting Plock in a highly important match for both teams and this weekend the Danish Champions face one of the greatest challenges of them all when playing PSG in Paris. Realistically, they know that making an upset and grabbing the points are almost impossible.

– We cannot have any realistic expectations about winning the match. We played a good game against Paris in front of 10.000 spectators in Jyske Bank Boxen in October and we will try to show that we have learned from that match and can play even better in Paris.

– We keep on fighting in the VELUX EHF Champions League and we prepare ourselves for a very important match next week in Plock, so we want to sharpen some elements of our game, told the Bjerringbro-Silkeborg coach.

Last weekend Bjerringbro-Silkeborg took the silver medal at the Danish cup tournament’s Final4 but on Wednesday, they lost the top game of the Danish League against Aalborg. From now on, they play two games every week and they can use the game in Paris to challenge themselves against one of the best teams in the world.

– We had a great evaluation of our first game against Paris and we have a good idea about our opportunities and limitations against them. We will try to defend better against their counter attacks and on the other hand challenge them on our counter attacks. At the same time, we want to be even better defensively against Paris’ physically strong individualists.

Throw off between Paris SG and Bjerringbro-Silkeborg is Saturday night at 20.30. The game will be live on DR3 Denmark and EHFTV.com.
