Usher to perform, match school supply donations for Hamilton County Schools

Chattanooga's very own Usher needs your help to reach out to the students of Hamilton County.

In a video posted to WJTT Power 94's Facebook page and on his Twitter page, Usher announced his plans to match donations of school supplies made on Thursday, September 8.

Donations can be made between 5-7 p.m. at the First Tennessee Pavilion.

Items like markers, colored pencils, crayons, glue sticks and paint are in high demand.

Meanwhile, construction of a large stage is underway at Dalewood Middle School.

Hamilton County Schools confirms an event will take place at the school on Friday.

We're told it's a private event for Dalewood students, staff, and some parents.

There will also be invitation-only guests invited.

We're told the event is part of a State Farm project.

Usher's not the first hometown celebrity to help raise money for Chattanooga's schools. Samuel Jackson held a similar fundraiser back in March.
