La Dolce Vita Victoria

A stone's throw from Victoria's clock tower, tucked away from the main traffic route, a friendly team awaits to serve you at La Dolce Vita. Once you have selected from the variety of quick food, ice cream or coffees on offer, sit down and watch the hustle and bustle of the Island's capital go by. We caught up with Giuseppe & Emerence Grandisi, the owners to find out more...

Tell us more about the restaurant
The restaurant is located on State House Avenue, Victoria just in front of the gymnasium. From the famous clock tower turn right if you are coming from the Deepam Cinema in town and you will find the big gymnasium car park and we are just there!

At La Dolce Vita restaurant we sell authentic Italian ice cream. The base comes from Italy and we make the ice cream fresh everyday in our lab. Trust us, it is to die for! One scoop is only Scr 20, 2 scoops Scr 35 and 3 scoops Scr 50. We have 1 litre insulated packs that will keep the ice cream chilled up to 30 minutes for take aways.

We also sell croissants, sandwiches, baguettes, cakes, pizzas, fruit salad, quiche and not to forget our variety of healthy salads to choose from. We have a full bar where we sell non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages and cocktails. For coffee lovers we've got espresso, cappuccino, caffe latte, americano, tea and hot chocolate.

For breakfast we serve continental breakfast for now. And for lunch our concept is a self service restaurant whereby we have a variety of food on display. The aim is for our guests to enjoy a quick lunch at affordable prices in a lovely European style air-conditioned atmosphere. We also have an open air terrace whereby the guests can enjoy their lunch or beverages in total privacy and it is very romantic listening to the sounds of our water fountain. We offer take away at 20% OFF the original prices and our take away boxes are microwavable.

This Friday we will start our late lunch menu from 3-6 pm daily where we will sell home made burgers and chips, club sandwiches, crepes etc.

Also starting in October we will introduce our a la carte dinner menu on Fridays and Saturdays from 7pm-11pm where our guests will have a choice of a starter, soup, main course and dessert to choose from.

In particular, what type of cuisine does your restaurant specialize in?
We specialize in Italian, Creole, Asian and International Cuisine.

What are the Opening hours?
At present we are opened Monday-Saturday from 7.30am to 7pm. This month of October (date to be confirmed), on Fridays and Saturdays we will close at 11pm.

Signature dishes?
Lasagna, salads, garlic prawns, fish - catch of the day and offcourse ice cream!

Can you give us indication costs for food and tell us about your special promotion?
Normal prices for hot plate for lunch starts from Scr 75 with free steamed rice, lentils and chutney or salad with it. For take away it starts at Scr 60. For the month of October if you say 'Foodie', we will offer you a bottle of water (small) or glass of wine with your food with our compliments.

What would you say is your added value?
We are an ideal base to explore Victoria, a popular location for starting your day and the car park is free after 4pm.

Ingredients:
Lettuce

Black olives
Hard boiled eggs
Potatoes
Green beans

Dressing:

Lemon juice
Extra-virgin olive oil
Finely chopped onion

Finely chopped fresh thyme
A teaspoon Dijon mustard
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method:
Prepare all the vegetables to your preference in a bowl. Drizzle with the dressing. Serve.

These are dreaded words. Hated. And although â€˜progressâ€™ has made it a more simple process to find some of the necessary items, the process itself continues to be â€¦ well â€¦ an adventure?

Victoria, being very small for a national capital, may seem like an easily navigable undertaking, and it possibly could be; park the car, walk all over town and someone named Robert is your motherâ€™s brother. Being, however, the only game in town â€¦ or rather the only town in country â€¦ makes it the de rigueurdestination of the entire population of Seychelles, including that Robert guy and your mother, on any given day.
