Abilene City Council discusses Civic Plaza Hotel

The Abilene City Council called a special meeting Monday morning to discuss the Civic Plaza Hotel located at 505 Pine Street.

Council members met for less than half an hour in closed session to discuss the property, which was scheduled for public auction Tuesday. No action was taken.

The owner of the Civic Plaza Hotel, Dasi-Reddy Dayakar, said Friday that he and a Houston-based limited liability corporation settled a lawsuit. That settlement kept the hotel property off the auction block.

Judge John Weeks of the 42nd District Court ordered Dayakar to pay the LLC, Civic Plaza LLC, $283,429 last  week.

Dayakar has been the owner of the hotel since 2008.
