maxresdefaultI recently took a trip to visit family at Lake Caroline in Virginia.  One night, we decided to sit out on the balcony and star gaze while we talked.  When we first went out, we could see about ten stars, but after we turned out all the lights and gave our eyes time to adjust, we saw thousands.

I don’t think I have seen so many stars in all my life.  I was amazed at all God has created, and that is only seeing a very small portion.  It made me feel quite small, but not in a bad way.  It gave me perspective.  That my God would be mighty and creative enough to make all the universe, but He chose to make me in His image (Genesis 1:27), is almost too much to take.  That He would knit me together in such an intimate way (Psalm 139:13-14), makes me feel more loved and cared for than I deserve.  Not only that, but He went even farther to place His Spirit in me, the same Spirit that rose Christ from the grave (Romans 8:11).

I encourage you, if you are feeling small or alone, to remember that the One who hung the stars, took the care to make you exactly who you are.  Read through Psalm 139 and Matthew 10:29-31 to realize He knows even the number of hairs on your head.  He knows every time you will turn from Him, and He still chose to send His only Son to die rather than to spend eternity without you.

Folks, it doesn’t get any better than that.  No one can love you more than that.  So if you are feeling sad or alone, rejected or defeated, remember this:  He made you, He knows you, and He loves you more than anyone else does.  I’m absolutely OK with feeling small when I am held by a God that BIG!

In His grace,

Ashleigh
