The Stories in This Book Prove the Challenges of Cancer Can Actually Be The Time of Greatest Positive Growth in Your Life.
Cancer: From Tears to Triumph Cancer: From Tears to Triumph: Inspiration from Survivors and Thrivers, Health Care and Support Professionals, Caregivers and Loved Ones is a book, I believe everyone who is touched by cancer should own and read. Friends, family members and even the healthcare providers go on this tough journey with the patient and in some cases it is harder for family members and friends than it is for the patient. My disclaimer. I have stage IV cancer and I wrote chapter 8 of this book.I was given the opportunity to add my thoughts to this wonderful project and I wrote about the gifts I have received from getting cancer. I also talk about tips for dealing with the pain and day to day discomfort, fatigue and depression that is an easy trap to fall into. I thought I was the only one that had anything positive to say about cancer or any terminal disease, but as it turns out even though cancer is never good, nor is the pain, suffering and mental toll, there are so many ways to live even a better life than you are living now. There are ways to be grateful and hopeful, without getting all woo-woo, mystical or even overly spiritual. This book is full of stories from patients, family members, friends and health care professionals that tell about their great tragedies that lead to even greater gifts. There is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and there is also Post Traumatic Growth (PTG). PTG is proven science and this book can help lead anyone touched by cancer, whether you are a patient, family member, friend or empathetic health care professional, to a place of hope, understanding, peace and gratitude. If life is the outcome of the choices you make; then make a choice to move toward hope and acceptance so that the outcome of the tragedy is not depression and despair, but gratitude and hope.I highly recommend this book for anyone that is touched with tragedy. My love goes out to the other authors in this book. I thought my thoughts on this subject were special to me, but it turns out that so many of you have made one of the worst things that can happen to you or a close loved one, a mostly rough, but positive learning and growth experience. So many have learned that there is no growth without challenge and cancer can challenge a person it every way imaginable, but the other authors stories in this book prove that there are ways of handling the challenges with true heart.I added a picture of me ringing the bell. This is a practice at many cancer hospitals when you finish a round of radiology. A great day!
