As you sit beside your holiday fires this season, take a moment to think about the wood that is providing the cozy warmth. These joyous winter moments are fueled by trees, and as Land's Sake prepares for another sustainable firewood harvest, this connection is at the forefront of our awareness. We approach our firewood production with the utmost respect for trees and forests, selectively harvesting for improvement and regeneration. Thank you for your continuing support, which makes our forest management possible.

Working with the Weston Conservation Commission, Land's Sake manages the Weston Town Forest. We cut unhealthy and low-grade trees for local firewood, leaving healthy, valuable trees to grow and mature. Once we finish cutting one parcel of forest, it is left for 15-20 years, allowing for rest and regrowth. The result is improved timber quality, healthy forests, and local firewood burning in our community's fireplaces all winter long.

Your generous donation allows Land's Sake to continue to be a regional model for small scale, community-based sustainable forestry. When you donate, you not only provide Land's Sake with the resource we need to do our work, but also promote the potential for widespread sustainable town forest management through example.

Like all our projects, forestry at Land's Sake is not solely focused on production. Our goals include building community, fostering connection, and providing education. We involve the greater community in local forestry through our volunteer days and forest walks, allowing those who are interested to learn more about the forests they love. Students from Brandeis University take their studies to the forests, assisting our forestry team and learning about the methods that make our work sustainable and
productive.

Thanks to your generosity, we will launch a new forestry field trip for Weston first graders this winter, teaching the next generation how to care for forests with both use and ecology in mind. We deeply appreciate your commitment to supporting Land's Sake's work.

We couldn't do it without you! Every fireplace that is warmed by Land's Sake's firewood this winter is also fueled by the support of our generous community. For this, and so much more, we thank you!
