Camp Imua 2017

Summer is almost here and that means Camp Imua is right around the corner!   Camp will run from Saturday, June 10th through Thursday, June 15th and will celebrate 41 years of creating camp memories.  Camp Imua allows children with a wide range of special needs to experience a week-long recreational camp experience in an inclusive and supportive environment.

This year, 60 campers will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities like horseback riding, kayaking, surfing, swimming, zip-lining and even the thrill of riding in a helicopter for the first time.  Other activities offered at Camp include: arts & crafts, an ice cream social, a talent show, outdoor movies and even a glow dance party.

Each camper is assigned 3 caregivers to ensure they can participate safely in activities as well as receive social support.  Caregivers are high school aged students who spend a week of their summer vacation as a volunteer, helping them build leadership skills while giving back to the community. Every day offers new activities designed to build a camp community, friendships and create lifetime memories for both Campers and Caregivers alike.  Closing Day of camp includes a wonderful luau feast provided by the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel with entertainment and a final Circle Time.

Paddle Imua 2017 Another Success!

On Saturday, May 6th, BLUESMITHS Paddle Imua, our annual multiple-discipline ocean race welcomed 210 athletes who helped raise crucial funds for Camp Imua. The race follows the renowned Maliko Downwind Run and includes stand-up paddling, OC1, OC2, OC6, laser sailboat and hydrofoil SUP divisions.

The event was the most successful to date and allows athletes to interact with Imua Campers who give them a lei greeting at the finish line at the Hawaiian Canoe Club.

It is an exciting day full of energy, entertainment and fun to help make Camp Imua possible. For more info about race results and to check out additional pictures, visit our Paddle Imua Facebook page.  Mahalo to all the athletes and volunteers who participated in making the event a success!
