Podere Brizio: The Hidden Neighbor of Gaja & Soldera. World Class Brunello!
Friends - You are gonna love this wine from Podere Brizio! This is why I do what I do. When I first tried this wine I was blown away by it's quality. An amazing story from start to finish and the type of wine I love to share with my closest clients (but please help me keep the secret!). Most of the original Brizio property was sold to Angelo Gaja in 1996 to produce Pieve Santa Restituta, however, the family held onto what is considered the far superior parcel to produce wines under the Brizio name. The Brizio parcel sits next to the incomparable Case Basse of Gianfranco Soldera. Needless to say, with the stratospheric prices of both Gaja & Soldera, I can't tell you how great this wine is... comparatively speaking! Both the 2011 Brunello and 2010 Brunello Riserva are must haves - extremely elegant with the complexity and structure to age for years to come.
This is a hands down sleeper from the legendary 2010 vintage in Tuscany. At under $100 - it might be one of the top 'value wines' I have recommended this entire year. Details below on the offer... enjoy and let me know if you have any questions!! A Wine's Quality Is Determined In The Glass.

Wine Advocate Review: "Here's a wine with no loose ends. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a compact and coherent expression that is elegant and powerful at the same time. The bouquet is finely stitched together and extremely smooth in texture. Wild berry, plum, cassis, tobacco and grilled herb emerge from the glass. The wine is delicately redolent of balsam notes that include dried rosemary, ginger and cola. The styling here is traditional and the Sangiovese grape is given plenty of room to shine." - Wine Advocate
