STOWE >> Police are investigating multiple acts of vandalism to vehicles that have occurred over the last two days.
West Pottsgrove police received reports that between July 6 and July 7 between the hours of midnight and 4 a.m., unknown suspects vandalized vehicles and a garage door with black spray paint, according to a press release from West Pottsgrove police.
Approximately 10 to 15 vehicles, as well as a charter bus, were “tagged” with graffiti.
Residents notified police and provided photos to The Mercury Tuesday that show random markings and what appear to be swastikas on various vehicles along Race Street. The incidents occurred along Glasgow, East Race, Quinter and Lemon streets, according to police.
“These senseless acts appear to be random in nature with no specific target. It is also believed these acts may be the acts of juveniles,” West Pottsgrove Police Chief Matthew Stofflet said in a press release Tuesday. “I urge all residents to review the juvenile curfew ordinance for West Pottsgrove Township at our web page.”
Several other local police departments have also recently announced their plan to strictly enforce curfew ordinances. The enforcement is the result of a police meeting that followed several vehicle thefts during course of June, as well as a multitude of thefts from vehicles. Lower Pottsgrove Police stated last week that they investigated over 24 incidents last month and Pottstown Police reported similar issues. The investigation into those crimes culminated in the arrests of two juveniles. Among the law enforcement agencies that are working to decrease these crimes by enforcing curfews are Lower Pottsgrove, Pottstown, West Pottsgrove, Upper Pottsgrove, North Coventry, Limerick and New Hanover.
Anyone with information or surveillance on the incidents from July 6 and July 7 are asked to contact West Pottsgrove Police at 610-323-2090 and encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately.
