Connecticut State Library

Professor Lesley Gordon will discuss her new book, A Broken Regiment:The 16th Connecticut's Civil War at the Connecticut State Library on May 21, 2015, from Noon to 12:45 in Memorial Hall,  231 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT. In her book, she recounts the tragic history of one of the Civil War's most ill-fated Union military units. The 16th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry was considered by many to be unprepared when they entered the fight in the Battle of Antietam. The results were catastrophic. Nearly a quarter of the infantry were killed or wounded, and others panicked and fled the field.

Professor Gordon's presentation is part of the State Library and Museum of Connecticut History's Third Thursday BrownBag Lunchtime speaker series. This series features a variety of speakers on various aspects of Connecticut History. All programs are free and open to the public and attendees should feel free to bring their lunch. The Connecticut State Library, which includes the State Archives, is open and free to the public, Tuesday - Friday 9-5 and Saturday from 9-2. The Museum of Connecticut History is open Monday - Friday 9-4 and Saturday from 9-2.
