Junior Andrea Schell (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) continued her strong hitting, recording two more home runs this season and helping The College at Brockport softball team win both games in a non-conference doubleheader at St. John Fisher on Wednesday afternoon. Brockport came from behind to win the first game 10-5 and then came from behind and again and took the second game 5-2.

Trailing by two runs heading into the seventh inning of game one, Brockport scored seven runs to capture the lead and seal the win.

The Golden Eagles were the first to get on the scoreboard. Amanda Yuhas (Hamburg, NY/Eden) started out the second inning with a single to left field. Two batters later, Nikki Atkins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) stepped up and also hit a single to left field, advancing Yuhas to third. Pinch runner, Paige Monachino (East Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) was caught stealing, but allowed Yuhas to score.

St. John Fisher answered back in the bottom of the inning. The Cardinals scored one run to tie things up after a Golden Eagle error and a big hit to center field. In the bottom of the third, the Cardinals used three hits to add a run to their lead.

Schell recorded her fifth home run of the year in the top of the fifth with a shot out to left center, tying the game, 2-2.

However, St. John Fisher quickly responded with a home run of their own. The Cardinals took a two run lead off of a two run homer to left field.

In the top of the sixth, Brockport managed to cut the Cardinals lead to one run after an error from the shortstop helped Emily Kolenda (Oswego, NY/Oswego) score.

The Cardinals tallied another home run to push their lead back out to two in the bottom of the sixth.

The Golden Eagles made their final at bats count. Schell was the first batter to get on after being walked. Kolenda followed up with a single to left field, helping Schell advance to third. A hit from Yuhas caused the Cardinal catcher to commit and error and score Schell. With bases loaded, Gabriel Rivers (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) was walked and allowed for another run to score, tying the game up.

Ciara Condello (Rochester, NY/East Rochester) scored the game-winning run on a single to left field that scored Kolenda. With bases still loaded, Brianna Ferchen (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) was walked to score Yuhas for a seventh run. Rivers raced home after a wild pitch on the next play. Closing out the inning, Brianna Harris (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) ripped a two run double to put Brockport up 10-5.

Despite two errors in the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Eagles defense kept St. John Fisher scoreless in the inning to seal the victory.

Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) earned the win in the circle. In seven innings, Berger allowed five runs on seven hits with one walk and a season-high 10 strikeouts.

In game two, St. John Fisher was the first to get on the scoreboard with a run in bottom of inning one.

Brockport answered back in the next inning, scoring two runs to take over the lead. Monachino hit a single that scored Sarah Rosenbarker (Endicott, NY/Maine-Endwell). Next up, Ferchen forced an error from the Cardinal third baseman to reach first and to help Gabriella Baltzley (Lawton, PA/Elk Lake) score.

Harris's single to left field in the fourth inning scored Baltzley and added a run to the Golden Eagles lead.

Schell scored Brockport's fourth run of the game in the fifth inning. Baltzley lined a ball to the left fielder, who made a great catch, but could not get the ball in fast enough to tag out Schell.

St. John Fisher cut the Golden Eagles lead back down to two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Schell's bat continued to be hot as she recorded her sixth home run of the season, second of the day in the final inning of the day.

To close out the game, the Brockport defense remained strong and kept the Cardinals from scoring any runs.

Kolenda earned the win in the circle. Kolenda allowed two runs on seven hits with two walks and eight strikeout in seven innings pitched.

Schell continued to lead the Golden Eagle offense. She finished the day 4-for-6 from the plate with four runs and two RBI's on two home runs. Yuhas went 2-for-4 for the day with two runs scored, while Monachino was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Susanna Johnson (Edmeston, NY/Edmeston) finished 2-for-4.

Brockport returns to action at home on Saturday for Senior Day with a doubleheader against Geneseo starting at 12 pm.
