Avision returns to Mark Broom’s Beard Man to follow-up last year’s EP, ‘Freak Zone’ with ‘Excess’, which features four new tracks plus a remix by Skudge.
Avision (real name Anthony Cardinale) is a producer & DJ from New York. Fortunate to grow up around the rich club culture of NYC and influenced by the sounds around him, Anthony started on the turntables at the tender age of 12. His preference for a more mature sound led to his first residency at Club Abyss in New Jersey by the time he was 15. Throughout his development as a club DJ, Anthony’s passion and dedication to his craft would lead him to play all over the tri-state area at venues like Cielo, Pacha NYC, and Deko Lounge. More recent highlights include gigs at New York’s Output, Flash Factory and Schimanski, Stereo (Montreal), Nest (Toronto), Heart (Miami), as well as Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas and Electric Zoo.
Over the last year, as well as Beard Man, Avision has released on Victor Calderone’s Matter, Inmotion LTD, and has forthcoming releases for On Edge Society and Carl Cox’s Intec label. While support for his productions has been coming in strong from tastemakers like Carl Cox, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Pan Pot, Paco Osuna, Joseph Capriati, Carlo Lio, Ben Sims, Sam Paganini and more. No surprise when you check out his latest offering…
Of his original cuts, ‘That’s My Sh*t’ packs a punch with its jackin’ groove and raw New York flavour (you can tell Avision cut his teeth in the city’s jumping clubland), ‘Excess’ heads down a darker Techno tunnel like an aural hypnotic spiral, ‘Dub Trip’ continues the rhythmic charm; tough and uncompromising, before the burgeoning layers of ‘Serenity’. While adding even more clout, Sweden’s Skudge turns in a funk-fuelled reworking of ‘Excess’ to round off another magnetic Beard Man EP.
