Stockton International Festival

Sunday 3rd August

The first Stockton International Riverside festival was in August 1988 and is now in its 27th year. Seeking inspiration from European festivals in Holland, France and Spain, the Stockton festival soon became an outdoor art spectacular with a focus on international performers and companies. As enthusiasm gained for the exotic festival, the budget grew to allow for more street theatre, dance, circus and music acts to get involved. As well as becoming the gateway to the UK for European companies to showcase their work to an altogether different audience, the local environment relished in the introduction of diverse culture and also benefitted hugely economically due to the large crowds the festival attracts to the town each year.

As with Festivals, the day is going to be very busy and we will struggle to stay together, so please can you ensure you have access to the time and if you are coming with friends or family you try and stay together and look after each other. We are aiming to set off back at 7:30 PM and we will agree the pick up point upon arrival.

Food & drink. There will be plenty of choice when we arrive, but of course you can bring a packed lunch/tea and a flask?

If you are into social media we would encourage you to tweet and face book things that have inspired you and use @superslowway in your tweets or face book the superslowway page. We have Caroline and Dave from Huckleberry films who will be capturing the trip and would like to grab quick interviews about what you have thought about the event during and at the end of the day.

It’s hopefully going to be another magical and inspiring day/evening and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Thanks
