Taylor, Mauszycki to represent S&T at 2014 GLVC Football Kickoff

7/25/2014 11:25:00 AM

ROLLA, Mo. – Two members of Missouri S&T's football team, senior defensive end Dan Mauszycki (Gardner, Kan./Gardner-Edgerton HS) and senior wide receiver Nick Taylor (Wichita, Kan./Southeast HS), will be among the 18 players representing their institutions at the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference Football Kickoff event on Friday, August 1 in Lebanon, Ill.

The event will take place at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts at McKendree University, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Mauszycki earned second-team All-GLVC honors along the defensive line last fall after leading Missouri S&T with six quarterback sacks and 13 tackles behind the line of scrimmage among his 36 stops a year ago.  Taylor finished the 2013 campaign with 38 receptions for 460 yards and a touchdown; he was among three Miners with at least 35 catches last season.

Mauszycki and Taylor will joined at the event, which will serve both the league's media members and fans throughout the GLVC through several social media outlets, by S&T head coach Tyler Fenwick.  The Miners posted a 6-5 record in Fenwick's first season at the helm and finished in a tie for second in the GLVC with Saint Joseph's and Truman State.

The GLVC will also announce the 2014 pre-season coaches poll during the course of the event.  This season's conference lineup will also include Southwest Baptist and Lincoln, members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, who are beginning a four-year agreement as associate members of the GLVC in a strategic football scheduling alliance between the two conferences.

In addition, Kentucky Wesleyan, a member of the league in its first two seasons of football, withdrew from the conference in the sport and will play as an NCAA Division II independent this fall.
