KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Country music singer and Kernersville native Chris Lane’s music video premiered on CMT Wednesday, featuring shots from his hometown.

FOX8 took you behind the scenes in May of the music video shoot for the song “Broken Windshield View.”

The video, shot in and around Kernersville, features a lot of landmarks familiar to people who live in the Triad.

Folks will recognize prominent road signs, buildings and even the water tower at Glenn High School where Lane was a high school student.

The music video was directed by Robert Hales who has also directed videos for Justin Timberlake and Miley Cyrus. Hales won a 2008 MTV Music Video award for Gnarls Barkely’s “Crazy” video.

Lane, who grew up in Kernersville, is now living in Nashville pursuing his dream.

While he spent some time on season seven of American idol, he’s now signed with Big Loud Mountain Records, which also has the popular duo Florida Georgia Line on its label.

“Broken Windshield View” broke into the Top 10 on the iTunes Country Songs Chart and was the top-selling debut single the week of June 20 according to Soundscan.
