National Bookshop Day at Fairfieldbooks

Saturday August 9th will be the 4th National Bookshop Day. In 2010 the retail book industry decided to work on an awareness campaign at a time when the industry had been badly shaken by some big shop closures. We needed to remind people that we were still here, doing our thing in lots of shopping strips and centres around the country, and that it wasn't all doom and gloom. At Fairfieldbooks we have turned it into an opportunity to have a bit of fun, and make sure our shoppers know about some of our local authors in particular. We are very lucky to have so many writers who live in the immediate and nearby areas. For some reason, we are particularly blessed with a lot of authors who write for children. I've put our schedule below, so you can choose which author you would like to meet. They will be happy to talk to you, and maybe give you a cup cake! They would also be very pleased to sign any books for you. See you on Saturday 9th!

11-12 Kylie Ladd, author of Into My Arms, Last Summer & After the Fall

11-12 Fran Cusworth, author of Sisters of Spicefield

11.30-12.30 Anna Branford, author of Violet Mackerel & Lilli-Pilli's Sister

11.30-12.30 Carole Wilkinson, author of the Dragonkeeper & Ramose series

1-2 Michael Pryor, author of the Laws of Magic & The Extraordinaires series, and 10 Futures & Machine Wars

1-2 Corinne Fenton, author of Hey baby, Hey Dad You're Great & The Dog on the Tuckerbox

2-3 Zana Fraillon, author of Monstrum House & No Stars to Wish on.

As well as having all of the above authors visit, we are launching our storytime session. Aimed at pre-schoolers, it will be at 10.30am each Saturday morning. Come along with your small person and listen to some stories, read by Jodie or Kate.
