At A lofty 6ft 7ins tall, former Blues star Kevin Francis could also have been a smash hit at basketball.
And now his daughter Stacey is chasing her own hoop dream – as a member of England’s Commonwealth Games netball team.
The 26-year-old Team Bath player, a graduate of the city’s university, also appeared in the Delhi Games of 2010 and the World Championships in Singapore the following year.
Stacey has been keeping her Twitter followers up-to-date with life in the England’s squad during the sporting jamboree in Glasgow.
And her proud dad was at the Games over the weekend to cheer her on.
Birmingham-born Kevin Francis made 94 appearances for Blues and scored 16 goals between 1995 and 1998.
He also played for a string of other clubs, most notably Stockport County.
Francis moved to Canada after his 12-year football career ended and worked as a trucker before joining the Calgary Police Service.
