Why this petition matters

Started by Karen Weldin

Eufaula, OK's main economic revenue is recreation and tourism. There is limited space on Main St.  To place a Family Dollar store on Main Street would cause parking and driving congestion, would take away from the long term plan of tourism retail on Main Street and would destroy an historical building.  No variance should be granted for this project.

Major decisions about the future of Main Street, Eufaula OK should not take place until the proposed Strategic Planning Committee has been initiated and at a minimum a five (5) year plan developed

Historic preservation is a primary value and consideration of the people in Eufaula, OK working hard on progressive plans for Eufaula, OK. Efforts should be made to preserve historical buildings and to protect historical homes and buildings on Main Street for the future of Eufaula.

Family Dollar already exists in Eufaula, OK (as well as two other discount stores).  The Atwood Group should consider remodeling the existing building, maintaining their current location or seeking out a free standing site that has ample space to meet their needs without seeking a variance and settling for limited parking simply to be on Main Street.

Protect Main Street, Eufaula OK for the development of tourism business.

Say NO to a parking variance that would allow Family Dollar to relocate to the corner of Oak Ave. & Main St. Eufaula, Ok.
