Midwestern State junior Chris Norrie.
NORMAN, Okla. -- Midwestern State junior-to-be Chris Norrie combined with former high school teammate Connor Curry to claim the open doubles title at the Oklahoma ITA Summer Circuit event last weekend at the Headington Tennis Center.

Norrie helped the Mustangs to a third consecutive NCAA Division II postseason appearance posting a 16-6 mark playing at the Nos. 4-6 singles' position in the spring, while Curry completed his first collegiate campaign at Texas Tech.

The duo edged Xavier's Connor LaFavre and Tristan Stitt of James Madison 8-7 by claiming the super tiebreaker by a 10-6 margin in the finals. Norrie and Curry rolled through the opening three rounds of tournament play 8-1, 8-3 and 8-1.

Norrie also advanced three rounds deep in the men's singles' main draw falling in the Round of 16 to Austin Peay's Alex Kartsonis.

Since its inception in 1993, nearly 30,000 men and women have competed in the ITA Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA. Providing college and junior athletes (along with alumni) the opportunity to compete in organized events year round, the Circuit remains open to anyone as long as he/she is a current ITA member. There are nine regional circuits that span across the United States, which include 36 different tournaments.

The ITA/USTA National Summer Championships are set for Aug. 8-11 in Bloomington, Ind.
