OKLAHOMA CITY – From the palm of your hand to your doorstep.
A new app-based delivery service will pick up your favorite dish from metro restaurants and deliver it to your home.
“They can actually track their order in real time. Customers can literally watch their driver come to The Wedge, pick up the food and drive to their home,” Blake Cantrell, Order Up owner said.
Order Up is the first food delivery service of its kind for Oklahoma City.
Currently they have 26 restaurants signed up from places like The Wedge to Wing Stop.
“We’ve never had quite the capacity to pay for a delivery driver however we want to offer that service especially to the downtown area and tourists,” General Manager at The Wedge, KC Ortega, said.
Restaurants are charged a small percentage on orders through the company and customers pay a flat $3.99 fee.
The wedge doesn’t think this will take away from in store business.
“Usually if they want delivery they’re not going to come in and eat,” Ortega said.
Order Up has 40 locations around the country but this is the first franchise in the state.
Blake Cantrell started in the Norman market last year to draw the college crowd.
He said it’s grown tremendously with 200 deliveries a day.
“For the most part, we’re opening up restaurants to customers they normally wouldn’t have,” Cantrell said.
Starting August 3 it will deliver to a small area at a 20 square mile radius.
With intentions of expanding to Edmond and Stillwater.
“Until we get up and running up here and we know what our logistics are going to look like and we’re making sure we’re hitting our delivery times appropriately, then we’ll expand from there,” Cantrell said.
Order Up starts on Monday.
