On Saturday, actor George Clooney got married to a London-based trial lawyer, the lovely and brilliant Amal Ramzi Alamuddin, in Venice in a private ceremony. She has been involved in numerous high-profile case and serves as a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers in London, England. Her specialties include human rights, criminal law, extradition and international law cases. Other than those basic facts, not much is known about who George Clooney’s new wife, Lebanese Amal Alamuddin, is, other than a few facts uncovered about her by the media.

George Clooney, 53, asked for Amal Alamuddin’s hand in marriage in April, 2014. They had been dating each other for seven months, since October 2013. Finally, for Clooney, the time was right and he decided to ask her to be his second wife. She is 36 years old and was born on February 3, 1978, in Beirut, Lebanon. Alamuddin’s father is Ramzi Alamuddin and her mother is Baria Alamuddin. The human rights lawyer’s siblings are Samer, Ziad and Tala Alamuddin. During the civil war in Lebanon, Alamuddin left her country of birth and was brought up in the United Kingdom. She attended both the New York University School of Law and St. Hugh’s College in Oxford, England.

Not that Amal would have wanted to say “no” to the famous actor, but how could someone say “no” when also presented with a 7-carat emerald-cut diamond ring? The gorgeous diamond ring has been reportedly estimated to have cost George Clooney $750,000.

According to a report by E! News, George Clooney’s father, Nick, was very glad about the engagement and stated that he and his wife were “thrilled for them.” The Doughty Street Chambers law firm where Alamuddin works congratulated the happy couple on their engagement in a brief statement it released.

George Clooney has stated that he first met Amal Alamuddin is Italy. When he accepted the Andrea Bocelli Humanitarian Award while in Italy earlier this month, he told the audience there of his plans to marry Alamuddin “in a couple of weeks in Venice, of all places.”

Some of George Clooney’s celebrity friends were in Venice for the big event. They all gathered together at the Aman Hotel, which overlooks Venice’s Grand Canal, and sipped champagne. The celebs in attendance included comedian and actor Bill Murray, supermodel and actress Cindy Crawford, actress Ellen Barkin, singer Bono and his wife, Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and actor Matt Damon.

Though George Clooney took measure designed to keep the paparazzi at bay, neither he nor a police boat could totally prevent the media from following his boat and taking photographs of the couple and the wedding party. As the boat passed under the arched Accademia bridge, which was packed with hundreds of onlookers wanting to catch a glimpse of the star and Amal Alamuddin before Clooney got married, the actor waved to them.

According to various reports in the Italian media, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married by the former mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni. Veltroni is a close friend of George Clooney.

After the marriage took place, the bride was spotted wearing a Dolce & Gabbana dress with black-and-white stripes. The wedding took place in the evening, with a beautiful pink sunset reflecting off the shimmering waters of Venice’s canals.

There have been rumors circulating in the media that George Clooney and his new wife, Amal Alamuddin, will stick around in Venice until at least Monday, and will have two ceremonies, with Saturday’s public wedding being followed by a civil ceremony this coming Monday at the 16th-century Palazzo Cavalli. It adjoins the Ca’ Farsetti, the Venice town hall. It is long been a favorite location in Venice for couples to have civil weddings.

Ever since George Clooney’s first marriage, from 1989-1993, to actress Talia Bloom, he had vowed that he would never get married again. The vow did not keep Clooney from dating, though, and he was seen by the media in the company of some of the world’s most beautiful women. Amal Alamuddin must be a very special woman for the actor to break his vow and get married for a second time. It is Alamuddin’s first marriage.

Venice has long been a city that George Clooney has loved. He has a villa on Lake Como, which is located just north of Milan, Italy. He has often traveled to Venice, both because he enjoys spending time there and also when he has attended the Venice Film Festival to promote his movies.

Human rights trial lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, is a very talented and brilliant young woman with many of her own accomplishments. There may not be many facts yet known about her life, but there is no doubt that actor George Clooney knows enough to realize that she is the perfect wife for him and that is what really counts. Without a doubt, there will be many other facts known about her and reported in the media as time goes by.

  1. I have been surfing online greater than three hours these days, but I by no means discovered any fascinating article like yours. It is pretty price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the web can be a lot more helpful than ever before.

  2. Amal and George look blissfully happy. George has found his perfect match. Yay!!! Not only is Amal beautiful, she is smart and intelligent..May the Grace of God be with them in their marriage. They are perfect for each other and are a good combination as a power couple…I salute you both….Lulu in Brisbane, Australia..

  3. Amal Amalludin is a very well presented Muslim lady who has achieved the greatest of God”s blessings. Not only is she smart but is “chic”, elegant and truly “a woman”s worth.

  4. She is not Muslim.. She is from the Druze community in Lebanon which is not related to islam. This community has its own traditions and cults.

  5. Amazing that someone actually thinks that marriage and religion are dissparate entities!!! Marriage without religion is merely a legal transaction that is founded on wishful thinking and existentialism. No wonder secular society is disintegrating right before our very eyes.
