CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Four America East member institutions are represented in this week’s Outdoor Track & Field awards. All four honorees rank in the top-85 NCAA Division I track and field student-athletes in their respective events. Here’s a look the awards for week four:


Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week
Kathryn Fanning, Sr., Albany
Manlius, N.Y., Fayetteville-Manlius

  • Had a leg in two victories for the Great Danes in the Upstate Classic.
  • Won the 1500-meter with a season-best 4:25.15.
  • Currently ranked 82nd nationally and 40th in the NCAA East region.
  • Split 58.7 as a member of the victorious 4x400-meter relay.
  • This is her second recognition in the 2014 Outdoor season

Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week
Brittany St. Clair, Sr., Vermont
Whitehall, N.Y./Whitehall

  • Posted a convincing win in the high jump at Princeton.
  • Broke her own outdoor school record with a leap of 1.78 meters, 0.13 better than the second place finisher.
  • Tied for 20th in the country and 10th in the East.

Men’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week
Trae Proctor, Sr., UMBC
Brandywine, Md., Thomas Stone

  • Ranks 17th in the country in the 110-meter hurdles.
  • Crossed the line in 13.88 for a first-place finish at the Mason Spring Invitational.
  • Best his previous mark.
  • Leads the league in the event.
  • Second-straight weekly recognition.
  • UMBC men are currently ranked ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region

 Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week
Joe Miceli, So., Binghamton
Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place

  • Logged a height of 5.07 meters (16’7.5”) in the pole vault.
  • Took first overall in the event.
  • Ranking is tied for 67th in the nation.
  • Finish qualified for the IC4A.
  • Tops all outdoor league competitors in the event.

Around the League – Women’s

  • Cody Mezebish broke the UMBC record in the 800 run with a time of 2:10.68.
  • Albany’s Lauren Lopano placed first in the discus with a throw of 40.08 meters (13’6”) and second in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 47.73 meters (156’7”).
  • Yolanda Ngarambe placed just 0.03 seconds behind first in a photo finish, crossing the line in 2:11.21 in the 800 meter for Vermont. Teammates Sydney Kurtic placed third in the shot put (11.55m), Kirsten Weberg earned sixth in the 1500-meter run (4:34.32), and Julie Richer and Koric Krichko finished second (10:29.29) and fourth (10:37.35), respectively, in the 3000-meter run.
  • Keishorea Armstrong won the 200 (24.24) and anchored the first-place 4x100 relay team (46.58) as the Bearcats won the six-team West Point Outdoor Invitational on Saturday. Her 200 mark met the ECAC qualifying standard and her relay eclipsed the 2007 school record.
  • Lauren Perrodin placed first in three events enroute to logging two school-record times for UNH. She reset the 100-meter dash school record in 12.08 and ran the first leg of the new school mark of 47.87 in the 4x100 relay that was set in 1998. Teammate Rosemary Read threw the hammer 50.99 meters for a first-place finish to rank second in the AE behind herself, while Bacall Liset placed fourth (149’00”). Virginia Lavallee took first in the 100-meter hurdles (14.51), while Caroline Bonsaint placed fourth (15.47). Brianna Boden (39:39:99 and Cayla Pellegrini (39:40.30) swept the 10000-meter race with first and second place finishes, respectively.
  • Diamond Jones led a UMass Lowell sweep in the 100-meter dash, as she finished in 12.63-seconds, Alexis Kitsakos finished second and Shaniece Cola was third. Kitsakos also won the 200 event in 25.60, while Jones was second in 26.07. Marissa Avery won the high jump with a leap of 5’3” and Janelle Clarkson finished second (5'1"). Thrower Candace Greene was the top collegiate competitor in the shot put with a toss of 45’8” that was five feet further than any other collegiate athlete could match, however, the event was won by former UMass Lowell national Champion Jacqui Barrett (47’1”).
  • Tiffany Harrison ran three events at Massachusetts. She finished fifth in the 400 dash with a season-best 47.84 and ran the 200 in 26.50 and ran a leg of the Hawks’ 4x100 relay that finished sixth. Margaret Fuller set a personal record in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.56 meters to finish seventh. She also competed in the 110 hurdles and 200 dash.

Around the League – Men’s

  • Albany is currently ranked seventh in the Northeast region.
  • Thor Serafenas captured the top-spot in the hammer throw for the Retrievers at the Mason Spring Invitational, setting a new school record of 58.95 meters and ranking 84th in the country.
  • UMBC’s Dennison Long set a new career-best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.86 to move to second in the Retriever record book. He leads the conference in the event, as well as the 100m dash (10.36). Teammate Andrew Smith broke the UMBC record in the men’s 800-meter with an IC4A time of 1:50.05 and Vincent Rentzsch won the javelin for the third time this spring with a toss of 64.21m (210’8”).
  • Jonathan Santana Won the 400 at the Upstate Classic in 48.72, and also ran on the winning 4x100m relay and 4x40m relay teams. Split 49.0 in 4x400 relay. Teammate Nathan Hiett won the pole vault at the Upstate Classic in 4.65 meters.

  • Cameron Mitchell took top honors in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles and as part of two relay teams, with his best performance coming in the 110 posting a personal-best time of 15.03. Teammate Vladimir Francois was second, just .52-seconds behind Mitchell. River Hawk sprinters took the top four spots in the 400, as Mitchell finished just one-one thousandth of a second ahead of Keith Lewis as both were credited with a time of 54.38. Richard Kirby took third (54.57) and Francois finished fourth (56.31). Drew Butler turned in a strong performance of 50.73 to win the 400 meter dash. Omar Abdi won the 800 meter (1:55.32) and Nick Powers won the 200 meter dash (23.22).
  • Vermont’s Mallory Duncan led the men’s team at Princeton as he won the 400 hurdles in 53.34. Martin Kallur had the second-best mark in the pole as he cleared a height of 4.50 meters. Teammates Dan Moroney (8:36:68) and Oliver Scofield (8:39.18) swept the top-two spots in the 3000 run. Aaron Anderstrom was second in the 3000 steeplechase (9:27.22) and Thomas O’Leary posted second in the 1500 (3:55.11).
  • Alexander Moser collected 14 points off two first-place victories for the Black Bears. He took the 800 in 1:53.97 and the 1500 in 3:54.44. Justin Gagne posted eight points for the team as he took first in the shot put (16.69m) and third in the discus (44.22m).
  • Hartford’s Erik Quitzau finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.48 and posted a personal-best 59.19 in the 400 hurdles. Robert Pepper set a season-best mark of 13.18 in the triple jump to finish third overall.
  • Isaiah Penn placed in a pair of events to lead the way for New Hampshire. Penn logged a first-place time of 48.93 in the 400-meter dash to finish .32 seconds ahead of Christopher Poggi (2nd). D'mahl McFadden took first in the 110-meter hurdles (14.86), while Ryan Maney was third (15.83). John Prizzi took first place in the 5000-meter race (14:36.18), while Jeremy Wildgoose earned third (15:09.47). George Jumpp grabbed a victory in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 188’3”, while classmate Jake Renaud placed sixth (163’09”).
