Benedict's Cecelia Lykes Named Academic All-American

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benedict College senior shortstop Cecelia Lykes has been named to the Capital One Division II Academic All-America® Softball Team, becoming the first student-athlete in Benedict College history to earn this distinction.

Lykes was named to the third team and was one of 33 players named to the Division II Academic All-America® team. Lykes was one of two representatives from the SIAC to earn All-American honors. Spring Hill pitcher Caroline Sagrera was named to the first team.

A senior shortstop, Lykes was third on the team with a .370 batting average with a team-high 12 doubles. She is a criminal justice major with a perfect 4.0 GPA and received the prestigious Jimmy  Green Memorial Inspirational Award at the Benedict Athletic Banquet.
