UPCOMING WORKSHOP:

"More Yoga, Less Stress"

Yoga For Stress Management

Saturday, August 2nd 2:00-4:00pm

Hills Health and Wellness Center
4615 Bee Caves Road
Austin, TX

Instructor Amanda Green

$35 for Hills Members
$40 for Guests

Join Amanda for both a yoga practice and discussion geared
to help you better understand how yoga can change patterns of thought and encourage healthy (not chronic!) stress-responses in the body. You'll leave with a better understanding of the physiology of stress and have tools for knowing when you are out of balance and what to do about it. The yoga sutras teach that with less stress we can better enjoy positive thinking, peace and calm, and feelings of ease.

The Winning Edge: Benefits of Yoga for Athletes

A New Offering at Barton Creek Country Club

with Amanda Green

An accomplished athlete understands that his or her success depends on more than simple physical ability or the mechanics of their game. Athletes who are able to consistently perform at their personal best have also developed a sharp mental game. The ability to quiet thought, direct focus and perform in a state of alert relaxation allows players to be fully present and engaged for improved accuracy, power and endurance. When mind, senses, feeling and movement become one, sports become more than just a game or match—they become deeply connected, satisfying and rewarding activities.

Program Details:
The Winning Edge is designed to take place over three months. In that time, you will meet with Amanda for 8 one-on-one sessions, have email support, and maintain a daily practice. The daily practice adapts over time so that you will continue to develop and hone skills that support your athletic performance and enjoyment.

Can meditation really slow aging?

"Such spiritual practices may seem a world away from biomedical research, with its focus on molecular processes and repeatable results. Yet just up the coast, at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), a team led by a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist is charging into territory where few mainstream scientists would dare to tread. Whereas Western biomedicine has traditionally shunned the study of personal experiences and emotions in relation to physical health, these scientists are placing state of mind at the centre of their work. They are engaged in serious studies hinting that meditation might – as Eastern traditions have long claimed – slow ageing and lengthen life. "
