Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum Walking Tour – Westside

During the approximately 2 mile tour, attendees will learn about the Atlanta BeltLine including design and history; the horticultural collections of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum on the West End Trail; and experience first hand the positive changes the project is having on Atlanta’s communities. Biker Commuter Breakfast: Q-Time (Historic West End)

Join your cycling friends for our monthly breakfast meetup. September 3rd, we will meet at Q-Time Restaurant in the Historic West End! Q-Time is a diner with a full range breakfast menu. Check out their website to see their fare: Q-Time

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition puts together a monthly commuter breakfast on the first Thursday every month, so reserve a recurring little spot on your calendar for us. Bike commuters of all levels welcome: seasoned, newbies, or even just aspiring ones! Stop by anytime between 7am-9am and sit down for breakfast or just mix & mingle over coffee - whichever you prefer or have time for.

This is a good way to start your day with fellow bike commuters, to learn about local issues of interest to cyclists, to solicit or offer advice, and to connect with other riders. September 3, 2015 RSVP

Fresh MARTA Market West End Station

The Fresh MARTA Market at the West End MARTA Station is a weekly pop-up farmstand market. The market is a collaboration between MARTA, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, SWAG (the South West Atlanta Growers Co-operative), and Community Farmers Markets.

Bike repair station to be installed at West End Marta Station.
MARTA is bringing bicycle repair kiosks to seven train stations this month. Allen wrenches, pedal wrenches, tire levers, phillips and flathead screwdrivers, and an air pump will be available at Lindbergh Center, Chamblee, East Point, Edgewood/Candler Park, Five Points, North Avenue, and West End stations. Eleven beautiful West End homes will be open for tour from 6 pm until 10 pm the evening of Saturday, September 26 this year. Tickets can be purchased on line at www.AtlantaWestEnd.com or at the Wren’s Nest (1050 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd.) the day of the event for $25. The cost includes an all access past to each of the homes as well as light refreshments in each home. The tour committee is looking for volunteers to help man the homes and provide security. Fire Station No. 7 to Reopen

Fire Station No. 7 will be the oldest operational fire station in the city of Atlanta once it is rehabilitated. Built in 1908, Fire Station No. 7 served the City of Atlanta for over 99 years until its closing in 2007. The rehabilitated building will serve as an EMS station for the City of Atlanta and will be expanded into a full service fire station in the near future. The exterior of the facility will be restored to its original 1908 appearance with modern, interior accommodations meeting current fire station standards for its occupants.

ATLANTA BELTLINE BIKE TOUR EVERY SUNDAY!

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and Atlanta Bicycle Coalition offer free, guided bike tours of the Atlanta BeltLine on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. Enjoy the ride while you learn about the Atlanta BeltLine concept, history, and updates on project planning, implementation and development.

These tours will include rest stops highlighting assets and points of interest along the Atlanta BeltLine. Staff with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition will lead the rides, and each group will have a ride sweep to help with any unexpected mechanical difficulties.

Bike Rentals are available on Sunday’s Westide Tour for participants thanks to our partner, WeCycle Atlanta. Participants wishing to rent a bike must do so 24 hours prior to the start of the tour. Reserve your bike rental today!

West End Security Patrol is back! Wouldn't you like extra eyes on your home? Our off duty Atlanta Police Officer Cunningham will make a personal appearance at your home to make sure he puts a face to a property. Please spread the word that WESP is important -- the patrol needs the financial support of the residents we protect in order to sustain it. Beltine Westside Construction Continues!

The Westside Trail, a 3-mile corridor to be developed on the Atlanta BeltLine’s southwest side, will run from University Avenue in Adair Park north to Lena Avenue at Washington Park. For a half mile along White Street, the trail will use the existing West End Trail.

The project funding includes the 14-foot wide multi-use trail, 14 points of entry (11 of which will be ADA-accessible) with ramp and stair systems, greenway, and preservation for future transit.
