Publicist: Lansing extras are for 'Batman v. Superman'

LANSING – The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel might be calling for you, Lansing.

The Michigan Film Office says Warner Bros. is looking for extras from the Lansing region as the studio gets ready to film scenes for the upcoming "Batman v. Superman" movie in the capital city.

The film office, in a posting on its website, said Warner Bros. plans to film Oct. 16 and 17 in Lansing. A publicist for the project, Lee Anne Muldoon, confirmed Tuesday the casting call is for the film starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, due for release in 2016.

The movie is being filmed in and around Detroit.

Last year, the Film Office announced the superhero project would receive $35 million in incentives to film primarily in metro Detroit.

Film Office spokeswoman Michelle Grinnell referred questions to a publicist for the project, who did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. A representative from Real Style, the Clawson-based company hiring the local extras, said the company wasn't "at liberty" to give details.

Randy Hannan, chief of staff for Mayor Virg Bernero, did not respond to a message seeking comment.

The casting call on the Film Office website says extras 18 years old and older can apply for the jobs, which pay $65.20 for eight hours of work plus a catered meal. To apply, email a "current casual photo," your name, your date of birth, and your cell phone number to wb@realstyleonline.com. Put "Lansing extras" in the subject line.

The film, directed by Zack Snyder of 2013's "Man of Steel" fame, will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.

More than $130 million would be spent in the state, the Film Office said last year, including $5.1 million hotels. Some 500 Michigan vendors and 426 jobs were expected from the project, the Film Office said.
