Soccer Team Records Overtime Tie in Home Opener

Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team finished in a 0-0 double overtime tie with Wartburg College (Iowa) Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in the Eagles' home opener.  The Eagles are now 1-0-1 on the season while the Knights go to 0-1-1.  Wartburg leads the all-time series, 4-3-1, with UW-L.  The Knights had won the previous four meetings with the Eagles.

Ashley Tracy, making her first start of the season, finished with 15 saves for UW-L.  She recorded four saves in the first period; seven in the second; two in the first overtime and two in the second overtime. 

UW-L finished with three shots in the match, including one on goal from Kirsten Anderson

Beth Crow finished with one save for Wartburg.  The Knights totaled 40 shots, including 15 on goal.  Wartburg had nine shots in the two overtime periods. Brittany Frush registered 14 shots in the match with six coming on goal.  Wartburg's Ashley Kerns missed on a penalty kick in the first overtime session. 

The Knights had nine corner kicks in the match while the Eagles finished with one.  The teams combined for 27 fouls (17 by Wartburg).

UW-L returns to action Saturday, September 6 at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) starting at 3 p.m.
