‘Dancing With the Stars’ The Results [Recap/Review]

Dancing With the Stars

Dancing With the Stars

Tonight it was the first Results Night of Season 19 of Dancing With the Stars on ABC. Anticipation was running high as the 13 celebrities and their pro dance partners  wondered if the scores they received from the judges and their fans across America would be high enough to keep them on the show and prevent them from being sent home at the end of the episode. Also, Aloe Blaac and Smokey Robinson joined together and sang an amazing rendition of My Girl.

The celebrity and pro dance couple who received the lowest combined score from the judges 20/40, was Betsey Johnson and her pro dance partner, Tony Dovolani. They might be the couple who has their season cut short tonight, but there are other celebrities who also have fairly low scores. Anything can happen on tonight’s episode of Dancing With the Stars!

Dancing With the Stars The Results episode on ABC began with the celebrities and cast dancing to fifth Harmony performing BO$$. It was a great number to start The Results show with.

Then, we were told the first results when Tom and Erin said the names of some of the celebrities and pro dance partners who were safe and not in danger of being eliminated tonight as well as the names of some who were in danger. With a score of 25/40 by the judges last night, Antonio Sabàto, Jr., with his pro dance partner, Cheryl Burke, were declared to be safe.

Also safe were talk show host Tavis Smiley and his professional dance partner, Sharna Burgess, who received a score of 29/40 last night from the four judges. However, with the lowest scores from the judges during the premiere episode of Dancing With the Stars last night of 20/40, Betsey Johnson and her pro dance partner Tony Dovolani are still in dire danger of being sent home tonight.

Next on Dancing With the Stars was an encore dance of the couple who received the highest scores from the judges during the premier episode, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson. There were quite a few good performances on Monday night’s episode, but the final dance of the evening, a Jive one by Alfonso and Witney, was spectacular and deserved the high scores of straight 9s it received from the four judges for a total of 36/40 points.

Then, Dancing With the Stars got right back to business, announcing more results in this action-packed and suspenseful show. With a score of 29/40 points from the four judges, Janel Parrish from Pretty Little Liars and her pro dance partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy were declared safe. Also, with a score from the four judges of 31/40, a very respectable score, Randy Couture and Karina Smirnoff made the list of couples who were safe. Unfortunately, though, with a score from the four judges last night on Dancing With the Stars of 25/40, race car driver Michael Waltrip and his pro dance partner, Emma Slater, could be another couple who might face elimination tonight.

Right after the announcement of these results were made, Aloe and Smokey sang a duet of My Girl that was off the charts. Their voices blended together very harmoniously. Also, pro dancers Witney Carson and Mark Ballas danced as Smokey and Aloe Blaac sang this classic hit of Motown that Smokey wrote.

Then Tom and Erin said the names of other couples who were safe. Having received the highest scores from the judges last night of straight 9s for a total of 36/40 points, Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson were declared safe. With a total from the four judges of 34/40 points, Sadie Robertson and her pro dance partner Mark Ballas were also safe. As the judges gave Bethany and Derrick Hough a total of 32/40 points, they were safe and will move on to next week. The celebrity and pro dance partner in this round of results who were in danger of elimination were Lea and Artem.

After seeing a casting video from 2006 of Derek Hough and an excellent dance by the new pro dancers, Keoikantse Motsepe, Artem Chigvintsev and Allison Holker, Dancing With the Stars got right back to announcing further results.

With a total from the judges last night of 27/40, Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatryd were declared safe this week and will be moving on. Also, Jonathan Bennet and his pro dance partner, Allison Holker, with a total from the judges of 30/40 points, were safe this week. However, Olympian Lolo Jones and her pro dance partner, Keoikantse Motsepe, with a total of just 22/40 points from the four judges, were placed on the list of celebrities in danger of elimination.

At the end of the show, Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews said what the results were and who would be sent home. First, Tom told the celebrities who had received the lowest combined scores that “Your votes,” referring to the votes that their fans across America gave them, “are combined with the judges’ scores.”

Pausing dramatically, Tom said that “Lea and Artem — you are safe.”

Next, Erin said that “Michael and Emma — you’re safe, too!”

Tom then finally got to the two couples who had not been named yet, and one of them would be going home. Betsey and Tony, Lea and Keo — you had the lowest combined scores. The couple who are leaving is — Lolo and Keo.”

With that dramatic announcement of who the first celebrity and pro dance partner were, Lolo and Keo, the first Dancing With the Stars Results show drew to a close. It was a terrific episode and there is still a lot more wonderful dancing ahead the rest of this season on Dancing With the Stars, so be sure to watch next Monday night and check back here afterward!

  1. Lolo’s rotten attitude was the reason she is gone. If she had been able to laugh about her mistakes she may have gotten more votes. She just came across as a shrew. I felt bad for Keo

  2. Actually, I thought that too, as did probably most people who viewed the episode. I suppose that their votes from people who are their fans, or Betsey’s fans, anyway, helped kep them on. Maybe they will improve as it was an accident that hurt them more than anything that first show.
