Traffic crash, Surfers Paradise

Police are searching for the driver of a car that left the scene of a crash at Surfers Paradise in the early hours of this morning.

Around 4.15am, a light truck and a police vehicle were waiting at a set of lights on Thomas Drive at the intersection with Ferny Avenue.

A Ford Falcon that was travelling along Ferny Avenue made a turn into Thomas Drive, lost control and veered across the medium strip, striking both vehicles.

The driver fled in the vehicle which was later found abandoned in Stanhill Drive at Surfers Paradise.

An officer in the police vehicle suffered soreness to her arm as a result of the crash.

Police investigations are continuing to locate the driver.
