Higher hems, lower tops—summer is the season of wardrobe reinvention. So, then, it only makes sense to switch up your hair, no? Days spent out and about under the sun inspire flings with lighter shades—and perhaps more experimental ones. We turned to Moroccanoil Celebrity Colorist Lorri Goddard, who has worked with Reese Witherspoon, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Chloë Grace Moretz, for her suggestions for new shades you ought to try.
"Summer is a great time to dip into fresh hair color," she said, "But do remember to think about your time and expense investment." (Platinum sounds great...if you're down for bi-monthly root touch-ups!) Fresh color requires care—if you want to extend the life of your hue, Goddard swears by the new Moroccanoil Color Continue Shampoo and Conditioner. "The shampoo’s gentle blend is sulfate free and contains the ideal pH level for colored hair, so it has the ability to cleanse hair without stripping color," the colorist said. "There are countless sources of color degradation that you encounter daily, so using a regimen that continuously cares for your color is vital to keeping your hair color vibrant."
Ahead, take a look at Goddard's suggestions for the season's hottest hair colors.

"This season, we’ll see a lot more of solid, single-process tones. Ombré has truly had it’s time," Goddard said. "People are going back to solid shades." One hue in particular that's still going strong is icy blonde—see Karlie Kloss.

This shade is like and elevated version of your old tweenhood favorite, sun-in. " I love starting with a solid base and then putting a slight mauve tone over it to create a beautiful copper shade," Goddard said. "Emma Stone wears this really well." (We agree.)

If you're looking for a less dramatic change, Goddard suggested taking a cue from one of her own clients, Emmy Rossum. "To achieve this, I usually start with a solid color but then add some very subtle variations of highlights," she said, "Get it on with a color gloss or add some high streaks around your ponytail, like the hairline and nape, to feel the vibes of summer."

Good news for you low-maintenance folks: you can get away with minimal touch-ups all summer.
