Serious assault, Surfers Paradise

Police have charged an Oxenford man following a serious assault that occurred late last night at Surfers Paradise.

Around 11.05pm, a man became involved in a verbal argument with another man at a hotel on Palm Avenue. As they left the hotel, it will be alleged that the argument escalated and the other man punched him in the face.

The 45-year-old man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A 37-year-old Oxenford man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, September 1.
