Going armed so as to cause fear, Hope Island

Police have charged a 43-year-old man following an incident at Hope Island overnight.

Around 8.30pm police attended a residence in Babirra Street following reports of a disturbance and it will be alleged that on arrival police observed a man go into a house and return outside armed with a knife and a bottle.

A Taser was used to subdue the man after he failed to put the weapons down when confronted by police.

A 43-year-old, Hope Island man was charged with one count of going armed so as to cause fear and two counts of serious assault of police. He is due in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
