Grievous bodily harm incident, Manunda

Cairns police have charged a 15-year-old girl following an incident that occurred in Manunda yesterday afternoon.

Following an alleged altercation between two teenage girls, a woman approached one of the girls inside a shopping centre on the corner of Alfred and Birch streets.

The two moved across the road and became involved in a verbal argument, where it will be further alleged that the girl produced a knife and used it to wound the woman.

The 34-year-old Manoora woman was transported to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The 15-year-old Manoora girl has been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

She will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
