Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga perform ‘I Won’t Dance’

Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga sing “I Won’t Dance,” a 1930s number famously performed by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in the movie “Roberta.”

It’s not a pairing one might expect, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, but their new album “Cheek to Cheek,” released in September, debuted as the highest-selling record in the U.S. Tonight, PBS Great Performances presents the legendary crooner and the pop sensation together in concert, performing classics from the Great American Songbook off their album.

Bennett sat down with senior correspondent Jeffrey Brown to talk about the partnership.

“We hit it off the minute we met,” Bennett said.

Three years ago, Bennett collaborated with a range of powerhouse performers, including Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, Amy Winehouse, as well as Lady Gaga, for an album of “Duets II.” It was their first time singing together and it inspired the two all-stars to make “Cheek to Cheek.”
