Halloween is a great excuse to party down, especially when it comes to Las Vegas, Nevada, where there are tons of hot spots to choose from to indulge in just about any sort of fun that can be imagined. Halloween is not just a holiday in Las Vegas, it is a state of mind! It it a holiday, also, though, officially recognized by the state of Nevada, as Statehood Day is celebrated on October 31. Schools and all state government employees get the day off. What a marvelous place to live!
What will be some of the attractions and hot spots in Las Vegas this Halloween 2014? There are so many to choose from, ranging from tours of haunted houses to attending wild Halloween bashes at one of the multitudes of nightclubs Vegas has to offer. People watching in Las Vegas is an art form and can provide entertainment all year around, but especially so on the day and night of a holiday such as Halloween, when revelers don all manner of humorous, scary or sexy costumes and enjoy the party atmosphere in the city.
Though much of the fun in Las Vegas is adult-oriented, there are some activities that the entire family can enjoy during the Halloween season. For instance, families can take in the annual Halloween parade. The parade starts at 7:00 p.m. and heads down Fremont Street East. There is a fun after-event at the conclusion of the parade route, also.
Families can take in another great Halloween tradition by going to the Springs Preserve’s annual Haunted Harvest, which features carnival games, a petting zoo, trick-or-treat stations and a haunted house for the older kids. Another fun family way to celebrate Halloween is by going to Mandalay Bay’s Haunted Reef, which will be open October 31 to November 2. The world-famous Shark Reef aquarium becomes transformed into a scary, haunted place where visitors there can have their photos taken and even trick-or-treat.
For adults, there are parties and other special Halloween activities going on in nightclubs throughout Las Vegas, especially along the Strip. Some of the parties are naughty in nature, like the Hard Rock’s annual Fetish & Fantasy Ball.
For people watching and checking out some of the coolest costumes around, head over to the Palms Casino Resort and while away the night at the Night of the Killer Costumes party there, or attend Mandaly Bay’s Haunted Hotel Ball.
Remember to wear a costume, as many of the approximately 50 Halloween parties that will be happening in Las Vegas on October 31 will include contests with cash prizes offered for various categories. The casinos are not the only places a person can win money on Halloween!
There will be spectacular shows in Las Vegas for people who do not loud crowds, or are not exhibitionists or are into drinking adult beverages. Of course, there are fantastic shows to enjoy in Vegas all year around, but there are some that are seasonal with Halloween themes, such as Planet Hollywood’s the Evil Dead – The Musical 4D show at the V Theater. Cirque du Soleil’s KA will also feature costumed performers and an entrancing show.
Circus Circus is offering tours of reportedly actual haunted locations in Las Vegas, called The Haunted Vegas Tour. The tour picks up guests at the Royal Resorts located on Convention Center Drive.
For fans of haunted houses who want to get their scare on, where there are a lot of special effects, people in costumes, and chills galore, there will be several to choose from in Las Vegas. Eli Roth’s Goretorium, which is open the entire year, is a great one to check out, as is Victorian English-themed haunted house Bloody English, Hotel Fear and the Asylum.
There will be a four-day Halloween bash at the Hakkasan at the Las Vegas MGM Grand, from October 30 to November 2. The Empress will be back on the look-out for the sexiest costumes in Las Vegas and cash prizes totaling $60,000 will be given away over three of the days.
The Crazy Horse III will be hosting a sexy Halloween party they call Ghouls Gone Wild. There will be various drink specials going on like getting both a bottle of Absolut Tune Champagne and one of Absolut Vodka for $150. There will also be a “Best Vegas Guy” costume contest for men, offering $1,000 in Diamond Dollars as the Grand Prize.
Two great costume contests will be at the Ghostbar on October 31 and the Ghostbar Dayclub on November 1. The first place winner will get $5,000 and a night at one of the Sky villas there, for a combined value of $10,000. The Ghostbar Dayclub costume contest is another place a person can pick up cash for his or her costume, $5,000 and other prizes.
Other fantastic and spookily fun parties will be held at Surrender Nightclub, from October 29 to November 1; the Wanted Dead or Alive Party at Gilley’s Saloon on October 31; The Snoopadelic Cabaret, hosted by Snoop Dogg, at the Venetian on Halloween night; and, the Dia de Los Muertos event at Vice on November 1, 2014.
