"Every night, I take a shower and shampoo and condition my hair. After towel-drying it, I comb my hair and part it the way I plan to wear it the following day. Next, I divide my hair into four sections. I then spritz my hair twice with Banana Boat Tanning Oil and then twirl my hair, working the oil in. I keep twirling until my hair dries, which gives it a natural, second-day look." —Natalie Fine, associate project manager/producer at Refinery29

"The technique I use is called pinappling. All you've got to do is gather your hair on the top of your head. Then, you take your silk scarf and wrap it around the base. (This method got its name because the top of your head will look like the leaves of a pineapple.) A silk hair scarf is absolutely necessary for this. You don't want cotton. It strips the moisture from your hair. Plus, the coils of natural hair get caught in the weaving of the fabric, making them likely to break."

"I French-braid my wet hair on nights when I shower before bed. As it dries overnight, it creates a smooth, mermaid-wave texture for my otherwise frizzy hair. I find that this added texture helps my hair hold a curl more easily. Once it's dry in the a.m., I pull some pieces around my crown into a one-and-a-half-inch-barrel curling iron and let the rest of my hair 'do the wave' from the French braid. I like the mix of curling-iron curl and mermaid wave; it has a more undone, dynamic feel than simply curling my entire head of hair with an iron." —Alex McGinn, associate sales development manager at Refinery29
