Barre workouts are all the rage. I can’t tell you how many DVDS I have of various barre workouts. (It makes me look obsessed). Whether you are heading to a studio for a group workout or the convenience or working out at home, this is a very popular type of workout. It is strenuous and it does make you integrate using multiple muscles at the same time. I am sure you have heard about barre workouts both online and in magazines. There are always evolutions and changes in various barre presentations. One of the workouts I have been following for a LONG time is Fluidity Barre workouts !

Michelle Austin is the founder/creator of Fluidity Bar workouts dating back to 1999 for the workouts, the bar system (freestanding workout) launched at for NYC gyms in 2002. The home version launched in 2006 (which is when I met Michelle Austin in 2005/6).

It’s a self-contained system that is adjustable to your height and your ability and there are workout DVDS. Cut to the current barre workout chase. There must be at last 15 different barre workout classes in So. California and each has a different tweak. Austin is a known quantity in the bar workout circles since she used to be a Lotte Berk instructor before she created Fluidity. This latest evolution of Fluidity is taking the class back into the gym and studio to provide a free-standing device that can easily be moved around to accommodate various class types and it’s fully adjustable for all heights of students.

. If the barre is placed too high, women have difficulty doing some movements. Making the barre adjust to the user’s height increases the stability of the body as a whole and pelvic stability specifically rather than forcing a person to adapt to the height of the fixed position barre which then puts a strain on achieving proper form and being able to achieve that pelvic stability is 2 -3 times more difficult.   1. I love this thing. I have seen portable barres before, but this is a sturdy, post industrial transformer…better than a reformer. The simple adjustments that access all planes of the body make it almost as good as water! Brilliant.
