I know it's been awhile since I have communicated via newsletter.  I hope this finds you having a GREAT summer. I want to start off by saying THANK YOU to everyone who came out, was a part of, and supported our March Event:  In Honor of Women's Herstory Month: Our Births Our Stories. We will definitely do it again next year. It turned out to be a WONDERFUL event and as always, after a successful event I am reminded why I do what I do. I hope that you will consider joining us during some of the upcoming events listed below. If you are interested in partnering with, sponsoring, or participating in any of our events send me an email. I would love to hear from you. If you are planning an event and you would like to partner with us please let me know. I am always interested in working with others to help women in our community Birth Something Beautiful!

October 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26th.

The SMP Doula training is based on the model of a community doula. It takes a multicultural approach and combines the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of pregnancy and birth. This training can serve as a wonderful introduction to birth work and can be used as continuing education for those who have already been trained.

2015 ~ Save the Dates!

SQUAT Fest is coming to New Orleans May 22-24, 2015. "SQUATFest  is an innovative, accessible conference for birth workers of all varieties, organized by SQUAT Birth Journal. The event will feature both seasoned elders and emerging voices from within the birthing community and aimed to blend the sacred, the shamanic, and evidence based aspects of midwifery as represented by the publication. The conference has a strong focus on social justice as it relates to the reproductive experiences of pregnancy and birth, and is intended to be an environment where midwives, doulas, and parents of all genders, colors, and walks of life can come together and explore the most pressing issues facing our communities at this time."
It's official, the International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC), will hosts its 9th International Black Midwives and Healers Conference, October 9-11, 2015, in-Portland, OR, where the ICTC Headquarters is located. I am VERY excited about the return of this conference. This is an ALL-Inclusive conference. Midwives of every color attend and the feedback is always FAB. I will definitely be in OR next year with bells and whistles. If you have ever considered attending this conference I truly believe THIS one will be one for the memory books so save the date and mark your calendars.
