Guest blames lodge for lack of bear sightings in hilarious note

Note left at the front desk of Yellowstone lodge says staff should train bears to be where guests can see them

Going on safari is a little like playing the lottery - you pay your money and you take your chance.

The same is true of any wildlife holiday. And that's the beauty of such an experience - the fleeting encounter with a wild animal, the observation of nature as God intended, the reminder that we share this earth with millions of other souls.

But not everyone gets this.

Notably, the person who left the note below this week at a lodge in America's Yellowstone National Park, the world's first national park spread across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho and famed for its grizzly bear population.

Posted on Reddit by a user who says a friend works on the front desk of a lodge in the national park, the note's author bemoans a bear-less trip and suggests the hotel "trains [its] bears to be where guests can see them".

The full note read: "Our visit was wonderful but we never saw any bears. Please train your bears to be where guests can see them. This was an expensive trip to not get to see bears."

Another user beneath the post quoted a Yellowstone National Park ranger as saying: "There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the stupidest tourists."
