Hartmann Named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

CALDWELL, N.J. – Caldwell University junior goalkeeper Michael Hartmann (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) was selected the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer, the organization announced today. Hartmann, who received the same award from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference yesterday, did not allow a goal in two victories last week.

Hartmann continued his solid play this season with two shutouts. He made seven saves in a 1-0 victory over Molloy College on Wednesday. Then on Saturday, Hartmann kept Dominican College off the scoreboard in another 1-0 triumph, making a career-high 12 saves. So far this season, Hartmann leads the CACC in saves (46) and save percentage (.885) and is tied for the league lead in shutouts with three. He now has seven shutouts in his career.

The ECAC's membership includes approximately 300 colleges and universities from Maine to South Carolina and westerly to Missouri. Caldwell student-athletes have received weekly and year-end honors from the ECAC since joining the organization in 2004, and the men's and women's soccer teams and men's and women's basketball teams have competed in ECAC championship tournaments.

Caldwell hosts league-leading Concordia College on Wednesday, Sept. 24, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
