Incompetent Agents are Believed to be the Real Estate Industry's Biggest Problem

The National Association of Realtors have said in a report that the real estate industry's main and biggest threat is incompetent real estate agents.

According to heraldextra.com, The NAR report has cited in their report a very important issue that the real estate industry faces. The report said, "The real estate industry is saddled with a large number of part-time, untrained, unethical, and/or incompetent agents. This knowledge gap threatens the credibility of the industry."

Real estate agents should serve as the consumer's guide to find the most suitable property for them to acquire depending on their income, needs and lifestyle. Real estate agents should give advice to their clients and tell them "what they need to hear and not what they want to hear."

Continued education is also one of the things needed for an agent to become successful in giving what the client needs. Average agents sell around 12 houses a year and many of them are not able to price the homes right. However there a lot of tips for an aspiring home owner to weed out the incompetent and find the best real estate agent for you.

Investopedia.com have listed a few points on how you can find the right real estate agent for you.

First, call the nearest real estate office to have a small pool of agents to choose from. It'll be easier for you to choose and see top selling agent of their firm for the past year.

Second, ask for references because good agents usually have a great track record and you can ask their previous clients to give a feedback about the agent.

Third, find an agent who can impart something useful. Good agents tend to be knowledgeable about the current listings in your area and you'll be able to find your perfect home easier.

Fourth, find someone who knows a lot of people that you need to speak with if you're going to purchase your own home. Effective agents have connection to different lawyers, home inspectors, etc. that you need when processing your purchase. These professionals usually help them in completing the deal with their clients.

Lastly, it's okay to never settle with a single agent. Having multiple competent agents can give you more options and freedom when choosing your future home. After all, two heads are still better than one.
