Senior Rachel Malone (Fairport, NY/Fairport) took 18th place overall to improve two places from her 2013 finish for The College at Brockport Women's Cross Country team Saturday earning her third All-American award at the NCAA Division III Championships in Mason, OH.
Malone was the first Brockport female Cross Country All-American in 2012 as a sophomore with her 34th place finish and repeated as All-American last year with a 20th place finish as a junior.
The senior was in the lead pack of runners chasing the top two runners in the field for a majority of the race. In the last half mile the pack started to break apart and Malone stayed with the top group of runners to earn All-American honors for the third consecutive year.
Amy Reagan from Stevens University was the top finisher and Cassia Hameline from St. Lawrence was the top finisher from New York state. Malone was the top State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) finisher finishing two places ahead of Cassie Goodman from Geneseo. St. Lawrence finished third as a team and Geneseo was fifth in the final team standings.
