MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Caldwell University women's cross country team defeated all three teams at the Post Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Hop Brook State Park. The meet served as the final tune-up for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships for the Cougars, who took five of the top seven positions to out-score Post, Bridgeport and Concordia.
Junior
Taylor Landis (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) led Caldwell with a third-place finish, posting a time of 19:43.60 in the 5,000-meter race. Freshman
Lila Morreale (North Haledon, NJ/Paramus Catholic) was five seconds behind Landis in fourth place overall. Fellow freshman
Victoria Thaler (Millville, NJ/Millville) was next in fifth, followed by freshman
Tabitha MacKenzie (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) in sixth and sophomore
Alondra Sanchez Solano (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) in seventh.
Other finishers for the Cougars were senior
Faye Waanders (N. Haledon, NJ/Paramus Catholic) in ninth, sophomore
Chiara Guida (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) in 10th, sophomores
Sadie Polillio (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) and
Leslee Sena (Phillipsburg, NJ/Belvidere) in 13th and 18th, and senior
Ana Carballo (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) in 23rd.
The Cougars will compete at the CACC Championships on Nov. 2 at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa.
